Apply Engine exists because the work between finding a role and hearing back is mostly repetition — and repetition is the part software should be doing.

Why we started Apply Engine
The idea came out of a run of applications that went nowhere. Two of us were between jobs at the same time, sending out tailored CVs most evenings, and keeping a spreadsheet that was out of date by the weekend. The work was real; almost none of it was the work that gets you hired.
What struck us was how much of it was mechanical. Reading a posting properly, matching it against your experience, rewriting two documents and filling in a form is a process — and a process is something you can build. The judgement about which roles to go after, and what to say in the interview, stays with the person. Everything before it does not have to.
Apply Engine is what we wanted to have then: something that does the preparation properly, shows you all of it before it sends, and keeps the record straight afterwards.
